Speak up about the Bromelton incinerator

Cleanaway has asked Queensland's Coordinator-General to approve a waste incinerator at Bromelton, near Beaudesert. It would burn about 760,000 tonnes of residual household and business waste a year, potentially from CoMSEQ represented councils, with a 95-metre stack.

The Coordinator-General decides. There is no right of appeal on the merits against that decision, so submissions made during consultation are the community's main chance to be heard.

Two ways to make your own submission

The Coordinator-General's office prefers each person to make their own submission, in their own words. Choose the way that suits you. Both give you the same facts and where they come from. Not sure? Start with the helper.

Use the helper

Best if you'd like to be guided. About 10 minutes, on this website.

  • Tick the concerns that matter to you. We fill in the facts and page references.
  • Add a few lines about how it affects you.
  • It opens an email to the Coordinator-General for you to send from your own email address. That counts as your signature.

Use a template

Best if you'd rather work in a document. Free Word and PDF files to download.

  • A cheat sheet with the facts and page references, and a blank form to fill in.
  • Fill it in on your computer, or print it and write it by hand.
  • Then email it, post it, or paste it into the online form.

Privacy statement. The helper keeps your draft on your own device only. We do not see or keep it.

What makes a submission count

The Coordinator-General may not consider a submission unless it is properly made. It must:

Your feelings are real, and it is fine to say how this would affect you. The Coordinator-General’s own tips for a strong submission are to:

Submissions are not confidential. Cleanaway can get a copy, and it may be made public.
