Privacy statement
The short version: this website does not collect or keep your details. What you type stays on your own device until you choose to send it yourself.
1. What this website is
Stackplume gives businesses and communities sourced, easy-to-understand information about proposed stack emissions, and a way to write their own submission. It is supported by community volunteers. It is not a government website, and nothing here is legal advice.
2. What happens to what you type
- Your name, address, concerns and your own words stay in your web browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to us while you type.
- We never receive a copy of your submission.
- You send it yourself: from your own email account, by pasting it into the decision-maker's online form, or by printing it and posting it. Sending it from your own email is what makes it your own submission.
- The decision-maker’s website, and your email provider, have their own privacy rules. We do not control them.
- In the “About you” step, the “find yours” links take you to the Electoral Commission of Queensland’s or the Australian Electoral Commission’s website. Anything you type there, such as your address, goes to them and not to us. Your draft stays saved on your device while you look.
3. What is saved on your device
- Your draft. So you can come back to it, the helper saves your draft in your browser, on your device. It stays there until you press “Clear my draft”. On a shared or public computer, always clear it when you have finished, because someone else could open the page and see it.
- A counter marker. A small flag in your browser that tells the counter (section 4) you have already been counted. It holds no name and no identifying number.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics or other tracking tools. The pages do not load anything from other websites.
4. The counter
We keep one anonymous number: how many different browsers have gone to Have Your Say. The first time a browser clicks the “Scenic Rim Have Your Say” button, it sends the single word “click” and the total goes up by one. It records no names, no internet addresses and nothing you write. It is approximate: the same person on two devices is counted twice, and clearing your browser data can make you count again. Up to 23 October 2026 the total counted a browser the first time it opened a Have Your Say page. It is the same running total: those earlier counts are kept and added to, and a browser counted under the old rule can be counted once more under the new one.
5. What the website host keeps
Like any website, the companies that deliver this one keep routine technical records. Hostinger stores the site’s pages; Cloudflare sits in front of the site to help protect it from being deliberately overloaded or attacked. Both see the same kind of information as any website host — usually the visitor’s internet address, the time and the pages requested — before the request reaches the site. Neither sees what you type in the submission helper: that never leaves your own device (see section 2). We have not yet confirmed exactly what either company keeps or for how long.
6. If you contact us
If you email Website Support, we will hold your message and email address so we can reply. We will only use them to answer you, and we will not pass them on or add you to any list. We delete messages 12 months after we last replied to you, or sooner if you ask us to. Website Support: [email protected].
7. A few tips
- Do not include other people’s personal details in your submission without their agreement.
- If you are under 18, involve a parent or guardian before you send a submission.
- If you cannot use a computer or email, you can print a submission and post it. The helper has a print option.
8. Community-specific information
Each community on this site may need to add details that apply only to it, such as who receives submissions and which laws apply. These are on that community’s own privacy statement:
